Stephen Colbert had a great piece a few days ago on some bad reporting by Steve Doocy (which lead to some even worse reporting by some other organizations) that fits the theme I’ve been harping on of late.
In fairness, Doocy did address the mistake and apologize, but with the constant buzzing nature of news media nowadays his mistake was picked up and reported widely on other organizations. This kind of shoddy journalism really shouldn’t happen on one of the most watched news programs on television.

How likely is it that this was an honest mistake?
In my estimation, it could be an honest mistake on Doocy’s part. As more of a talking head, someone else probably transcribed the speech for him and he read what was on the teleprompter. For my part, I’d say the worse mistake is other news organizations quoting Doocy’s mistake instead of watching the speech themselves.
